GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Director of Career and Technical Education and in collaboration with the DoDEA Project Manager and Project Director, the STEM Coordinator leads the development and implementation of secondary STEM-related educational initiatives to enhance student outcomes. The STEM Coordinator is responsible for coordinating secondary STEM-focused professional development and ensuring the alignment of STEM programs with the objectives of the DoDEA grant and division goals. This position requires collaboration with various internal departments, community partners, and external stakeholders to drive innovative STEM programs.
This position is funded by the Department of Defense Education Activity Grant through June 30, 2029.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Coordination of STEM Programs
- Identify, develop, and coordinate the implementation of STEM instructional resources that align with state standards and division academic goals.
- Act as the lead for STEM curriculum committees, collaborating with educators to regularly review, update, and improve curriculum guides and instructional resources.
- Track and support STEM-focused extension opportunities to include out-of-school time and Career and Technical Student Organization activities.
- Professional Development and Instructional Support
- Design and deliver professional learning opportunities focused on STEM pedagogy, ensuring educators are equipped with high-yield instructional strategies.
- Provide technical expertise to school-based educators in STEM instructional practices, data analysis, and curriculum implementation.
- Build a community of practice among educators to foster collaboration and continuous improvement in STEM teaching.
Program Coordination and Compliance
- Work closely with the DoDEA Program Manager to ensure STEM initiatives are effectively created and implemented, meeting all compliance and grant objectives.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as Professional Learning, Technology, and Special Education and Student Services to align STEM initiatives with division needs and logistical requirements.
- Support the development of strategic plans for increasing access to STEM education, with a particular focus on addressing the needs of military-connected students.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting on STEM program outcomes, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
- Implement strategies for data-driven decision-making to inform program improvements and alignment with DoDEA and division goals.
- Collaborate with the DoDEA Program Manager to prepare detailed performance reports, highlighting STEM-specific metrics and achievements.
Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
- Foster relationships with community organizations, military groups, and higher education institutions to build collaborative partnerships that enhance STEM opportunities.
- Lead recruitment efforts and address gaps in access to STEM programs for military-connected and other high-need students.
- Act as a liaison between the division, schools, and external partners to support the successful implementation of STEM programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in STEM education, Instructional Leadership, or a related field preferred; candidates with a bachelor’s degree and significant relevant experience will be considered.
- Hold or be eligible for a professional license in a related field issued by the Virginia Board of Education.
- At least three (3) years of successful experience in education or program management, with preference for experience in leading STEM initiatives.

- Familiarity with state and federal compliance requirements for grant-funded programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is primarily inside an office], with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
