GENERAL PURPOSE
Stafford’s “All-In” Tutoring Plan prioritizes student academic needs in grades 6-8 to include those who were unsuccessful at mastering content as demonstrated by their performance on previous state Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments and those who are identified as “at risk” by their teachers or through performance on various screeners and assessments.
Under the supervision of the school principal, Tutoring Support Personnel will provide tutoring services to students identified by the school administration to mitigate learning loss and accelerate students to on-grade-level instruction.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordination and Provision of Tutoring Services
- Assists students in grades 6 through 8 in developing reading skills and academic content through before/during/after school tutoring, primarily in English language arts and/or mathematics, as directed by school administration
- Conduct targeted small-group or one-on-one tutoring sessions with students using provided materials and structures aligned with division expectations.
- Provide sustained tutoring support to students and teachers, document student’s bi-weekly progress scores using an online system, provide information regarding student progress and academic achievement to classroom teachers. and Assess, with a high level of accuracy, the student’s continued progress through progress monitoring and observations
- Collaborate with staff members, including teachers, instructional specialists, and coaches, to develop and implement individualized tutoring plans for each student
- Review student instructional data to inform tutoring goals and objectives for each student and to inform programmatic offerings to address identified needs
- Collaborate with staff members to identify current grade-level content that will be included in tutoring plans
- Schedule tutoring sessions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree (or enrollment in a bachelor’s program) preferred
- Professional Teaching license issued by the Virginia Board of Education, or eligibility for same, or enrollment in a program leading to such license, preferred
- Knowledge of middle school academic general content and learning expectations in English Language Arts and mathematics.
- Experience building relationships and working with adolescents
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Virginia teaching endorsement preferred but not required
- Interest in education, pursuing a degree in education preferred, but not required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is at the assigned school location with limited exposure to dangerous chemicals or air quality elements and is light duty requiring occasional exertion of up to twenty (20) pounds of force to move or lift objects.
